Story
There are so many worthy charities out there and choosing one to raise some money for can be a hard decision, until it becomes personal. Here is the reason why we chose Pancreatic Cancer Action from Annette.
“I recently lost a very dear friend and a wonderful human being far too early in her life to pancreatic cancer. Earlier in the year another friend lost her Dad to the same disease, and of course the world is very aware of the loss of Steve Jobs. Ironically it was Steve Jobs that made me think more about pancreatic cancer, and how it is for the "ordinary" folk who live with it and die from it.
I understand that one of the key issues with pancreatic cancer is that diagnosis is very late in the piece and that leaves the sufferer very little time once they learn they have the disease until they are gone. This is pretty damn tough for them and their family and friends. It leaves so little time to come to terms with it and do the things you want and need to do to "put things in order" and emotionally prepare and secure the people that you love and are dear to your heart. So raising awareness of this disease and looking for ways to get earlier identification and diagnosis has to be a good thing in my book.”
We are both lucky enough to have friends and family who will support us in this endeavour, but we welcome everyone’s support, no matter how small the donation.
Thank you so much!
