We are Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity. We stop at nothing to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. Because we believe no childhood should be lost to illness.

Story

I am taking on the Virgin Money London Marathon to raise vital funds to support the work of Great Ormond Street Hospital. Every day, 619 children and young people from across the UK arrive at GOSH.

In October 2018 my little boy Oli was one of them.  Following Oli's birth in May 2018 it became quickly apparent that he was struggling with movement in his left eye.  Oli was referred to GOSH with a suspected congenital third nerve palsy which we've been told is incredibly rare in babies.  Either in the womb or during a very long and difficult labour Oli suffered nerve damage to his left eye.

Fortunately there has been no impact on Oli's vision.  He is patched daily and wears glasses/  He recently underwent his first surgery. We see the team at GOSH every few months who monitor his progress and offer us support.

We count ourselves very lucky.

When we visit the hospital, we see doctors and nurses battling the most complex illnesses. This extraordinary hospital has always depended on charitable support to give seriously ill children the best chance to fulfill their potential.

This is why I am so proud and feel so privileged to be running for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
