Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Many of you will know that my lovely, beautiful, funny, compassionate Sister-in-Law Lisa passed away in March aged 54 with cancer.
The last few weeks of Lisa's life were made more bearable by her moving into The Myton Hospice. Here she had her own room with a view, restaurant quality food, made especially for her. Plus, they made her much more comfortable by managing her pain levels.
Being in the hospice made such a difference to both Lisa and her immediate family. Giving them valuable private time together at the end of her life.
On the 23rd of April I am running the London Marathon virtually to raise much needed funds for this amazing place.
Many of you will know that I love to run.
However, this is a marathon I have not trained for! My longest run has been ten miles. Also, on the 23rd of April I am away on holiday, it is going to be really hot. So, I will be getting up at 4am and running the first two hours in the dark by myself. I hate running in the dark, it is scary!
Please support me by making a donation, this marathon will be the hardest one I have ever run. It will be scary and tough. But not as scary and tough as the journey cancer sufferers face.
Every step I run of the 26.2 miles will be for Lisa and other friends, who are sadly going through their own cancer journey.
UPDATE
I ran the marathon, it was horrible and definitely the worst run of my life. I started at 3.30 am, it was pitch black. I was running with a head torch to see the way. The homeless were out and about, while they did not bother me it was unnerving. I just kept telling myself every step was a step towards the light,
And then it got light! Stunning scenery, a gentle breeze and five lovely miles covered. Then it got hot!!! 35 degrees no shade and no water stations. Nigel delivered much needed hydration and somehow I managed to keep going. The last five miles were truly awful, my leg hurt, it was so, so hot, but I did it.
