What is
HOLDING THE LINE?

HOLDING
THE LINE
will be a day of artistic activism and excellence,
fund-raising and spirit-raising. During the day, some of the UK's best known poets
will perform alongside newer poets in a series of sponsored poetry readings
about women, their lives and their rights. From 8pm onwards, the mood will
change as invited guests lead an evening of live music, comedy, poetry and
mayhem, culminating in a party with more music and dancing. There will be wild
words, balloon animals and a cocktail created specially for the occasion.

Entry will be free but there will be opportunities to
sponsor poets and to make donations on the day. All proceeds to Women’s Aid and
International Planned Parenthood.

Who are The Persisters?

The Persisters is a newly established network of
feminist poets and artists. We are intersectional and inclusive. We are
concerned about the turning tide in the rights of women and all minorities. Inspired
by the recent Women's March in London, we are harnessing our collective skills
as poets, artists and wordsmiths to create community and hold live events to
combat the erosion of hard-won freedoms fought for and earned over many
decades.

The Persisters include well-established poets, artists
and comedians and those who are less well-known. Together, we believe in art as
dialogue, celebration and resistance. We also believe in getting together for a
party!
