Story
BUPA Great North Run 2010
Hi everyone,
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Earlier this year I applied to run the Great North Run but unfortunately was unsuccessful and didn't get a place. I think secretly after my initial disappointment, this turned to relief and I didn't think anymore about it.
That was until I received a text from my friend Kirsty who asked if I would run the race with her for her Charity NEPAC (North East Promenaders Against Cancer). Kirsty has suffered from Non Hodgkins Lymphoma and this charity supports people like her. This is a voluntary charity which was set up in 1989 and most of the money raised is to support blood-related cancer research in the RVI, Newcastle upon Tyne. The rest of the money is given to local hospices and cancer support groups.
Kirsty's story is such an ispiration to me that I just couldn't say no. You can read all about her on her own JustGiving page;
www.justgiving.com/kirstyrobson This is the first time I have done anything like this and have been training very hard. I can honestly say though it is the toughest thing I have ever done in my entire life, running does not come easily to me, quite the contrary in fact. Kirsty however has pounded the streets with me over the past couple of months and has kept me motivated and enthusiastic - patience of a saint! Thanks Kirsty. I also wanted to thank two other people, Jean for keeping me on track in Spain (and being the first to donate) and Tracey who has inspired me with tails of her entry into two London Marathons - thanks girls. I'm looking forward to the big day and will give it my best shot.............and I am 100% sure that I will finish (even if it does literally kill me!)Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thanks again - I appreciate your support and I will of course update you after 19th September!
Susan
