Story
Isobel was my younger sister. She passed away on 3 September 2009 at the age of 47 following a 3-year battle with breast cancer. Her Christian faith gave her the strength to get through the difficult months. She was also a very talented and accomplished Piano Accordion player. For over 30 years Isobel played her accordion in many countries of the world and she made regular visits to the USA and Asia. She also taught others to play the accordion along the way. She had worked as a session musician and made TV appearances including a part in the BBC TV drama series “Tutti Frutti” alongside Robbie Coltrane, Emma Thompson and Richard Wilson. In this she played a member of the fictitious Inverbervie Ceilidh Quintet. Isobel had also written a number of tunes, usually for a specific occasion or person.
She leaves behind a loving husband and son. We will all miss her.
During her illness, Isobel was very grateful for the comfort and support she received from the Friends of the Beatson and wanted to raise money for them using her gift of music. However, this was not to be and, instead, I have created this web page in her memory. Please give generously so that others can also receive the support that she received while she was in the Beatson unit.
