Ladies Day fundraiser for Mikey, 16 March 2019
Mikey is seven years old and loves all things dinosaur-related. He was diagnosed with stage 4 high-risk neuroblastoma and in 2020 completed the bivalent vaccine clinical trial at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Story

Chrisann Regan, Joanne Buchanan and myself are organising a ladies day in Dunbar on Saturday 16th March to help raise funds for my 2 year old nephew, Mikey and Solving Kids Cancer.

Sadly Mikey was diagnosed with stage 4 high risk neuroblastoma just before Christmas 2017 when tests revealed that a tumour had grown from above his right kidney to across almost his entire abdomen and it had heavily infiltrated his bone marrow.

Since then the brave little soldier has had to endure chemotherapy, surgery, a stem cell transplant and radiotherapy and is currently undergoing immunotherapy.

Whilst he has responded well to his treatment so far, immunotherapy spells the end of his frontline treatment available on the NHS, and his battle is far from over. In almost 50% of children with high-risk neuroblastoma the cancer comes back and if it does the survival rate is only 10%.

We are helping to raise funds of at least £200,000 to give Mikey the opportunity to access treatment or clinical trials not available on the NHS.

Your support would be greatly appreciated :-)
