Story

Thank you so much for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation's research and I'd be so grateful for your support.

I'm planning to walk the 65 miles/106km around the Isle of Wight on 29th-30th April 2017. It should take between 25 and 33 hours of pretty much non-stop walking to complete. You can read more about the challenge itself here: http://www.isleofwightchallenge.com

The reason I decided to sign up to the walk and raise money for the British Heart Foundation is that my dad passed away from heart failure in June 2016. After his funeral I felt like I needed to DO something and, I suppose, direct my grief somewhere positive/constructive in dad's memory. The walking practice for this challenge has been a bit like therapy for me since too.

I live with a heart condition myself (Supra Ventricular Tachycardia, if you're interested)...so the BHF cause is one very close to my, ahem, heart!

65 miles will be a crazy challenge and this year the course has changed so instead of the hills being in the middle, they're at the beginning and the end!! I'm so grateful I will have my wonderful, supportive and equally crazy husband Chris and friend Louise as well as Louise's friend Alex, who  are all doing the walk as well: go team Astoria!! (Named after my dad's beloved boat...that sunk...hmmm, perhaps not the greatest metaphor and team name after all!!)

If you can spare some pennies to help me reach the £395 target I have to raise to take part in the challenge, that would be amazing! I am going to give this my best shot and hope to goodness I make it round in one piece! If you can't spare any pennies you're more than welcome to join us on one of the many practice walks we'll be doing before 29th April instead!! ;)

The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £25 could pay for an hour of research by an early career scientist, but every penny helps.

Thank you so much for reading.

Lots of Love
