Story
In 2 weeks’ time I’ll be doing the Great North Run in memory of Margaret Humphrey. From diagnosis, it took just 6 months for my Mother-in-Law to pass away. She was so full of life and kept her sense of humour until the last breath she took. She gave up her dignity when her family had to do literally everything for her as no muscles worked in her body. at all - but her mind worked perfectly and she was trapped in her almost fully paralysed body relying on others to help her through each day. I knew very little about MND then but because a number of celebrities have contracted it and pushed it to the forefront of the news, you realise how common it is and how much research is needed to help understand how this debilitating and fatal disease affects so many. For those of you who know me, you know I have always raised money for Cancer Research in memory of my much loved and missed Dad (and I’ll be running the London Marathon for him next year!) but this one is for Margaret!
