We safe and decent homes for families to build new lives, hopes and opportunities

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page.  This is the first time I have ever asked for sponsorship money in this way, but this is a charity I firmly believe in.  Not so much a case of giving aid, but more about actively participating in a sustainable project that also allows the recipients the dignity of helping to build their own home.

In November 2014 I will be part of a team from Aon UK Ltd going to Zambia with Habitat for Humanity.  When we get there we will be spending 7 days helping local people to build their own homes.  Typically the families who will benefit are children whose parents have died of Aids and are now cared for by their grandparents.  This project will help to ensure that they have a safe, clean place to live and will give them the opportunity to attend school.

My main fundraising project is to walk the Test Way from Inkpen Hill in Berkshire to Eling Wharf in my home town of Totton a distance of some 49 miles.  I'll be doing this in May 2014 with my friend Sarah over the course of 4 days.  Please give generously!!

Finally I should explain that the funds I am raising are partly to pay for the costs of my trip out there, so rest assured that I will also be contributing financially to ensure that as much as possible of my fund-raising goes direct to the charity.

I thank you for your generosity.

Love

Sue

About the charity

We believe decent homes are the heartbeat of strong communities and so we also fight for land rights for women, upgrade urban slums and informal settlements, improve access to water and sanitation, and help communities become more resilient in the face of natural disasters.
