Story
Bird Aid, a charity that homes and rehabilitates seagulls and other small wildlife is under threat. They have until November 2021 to raise enough money to prevent their site being sold. With 150+ permanent baby seagulls, disabled and injured seagulls, and other small animals, and thousands of injured birds helped every year, they urgently need donations to keep their site open.
If we cannot raise funds to save Hydeaway for Bird Aid, the site will be sold.
This would affect thousands of Gulls that are rescued every year, and mean the sanctuary's permanent residents would be killed.
The two-acre site has a hospital and 16 aviaries. Bird Aid also helps humans with disabilities given them space where they can get work practice.
With everyone's little help we can, together, help save lots of lovely birds that give us so much joy when we understand we all share this planet and we must protect the species that are most vulnerable.
Please, help save and protect the lives of these birds.
From Bird Aid's: Our fantastic site is under threat. We have one year to save Hydeaway which is the home of Bird Aid, a wildlife rescue centre and sanctuary that specialises in Gulls. We moved here in 2013 to build a permanent home for our disabled Gulls (which can live to 30 years), and to have a big enough space to rescue adult and baby Gulls. We didn't realise the demand would be so high and now take in 500+ birds every year from all over Southern England. Unfortunately, one of our former Trustees, who wanted to contribute funds, has now decided they want their money returned. Over the last 7 years we have built fantastic facilities that can never be replicated and this has largely been funded by the founders who work every day, for no pay, with a dedication beyond price. We cannot loseHydeaway as it is home to 150+ animals and helps to save thousands every year. We chose this site as the land and location are perfectly suited to helping the maximum number of birds. These disabled Gulls, and other animals, have been given the perfect conditions to thrive. We have also provided an environment where local learning disabled people can feel safe and supported as we encourage them to volunteer.
