Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity is the official charity of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. Find out more at www.hospitalcharity.org Your support is much appreciated.

Story

At 42 I was diagnosed with auto-immune disease primary biliary cholangitis (PBC).    As the disease became more aggressive and I became incredibly ill I urgently required a liver transplant.  I received a life-saving transplant on 12 March 2015.

Under the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham I had the most wonderful, compassionate and skilled care.  I was filled with such huge emotions from gratitude to unbearable guilt, happiness to devastating grief.  My donor saved five people that day.

I want to encourage people to join the organ donor register, educate and remove the stigma of liver-related diseases and give hope to others facing transplants.  These  are some of the reasons I competing in the British Transplant Games.  That and, of course, I'd like to win a medal!

My fundraising is supporting The Liver Foundation at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and I'm grateful that you've read this far and are considering a donation.
