Once again we are reaching out to the wonderful Southwark community to help us to support Pecan, who run the Southwark Food Bank. 

Funds raised will help the charity to support our friends and neighbours to access emergency food parcels during this unprecedented time of the cost of living crisis.

Chris Price, CEO of Pecan says “While the schools are not there, there is not enough provision for food and they just do not have the money to feed their children adequately during the school holidays.”

Southwark council offers free school meals to all primary aged children around the borough, but during school holidays - parents often find themselves under extraordinary financial pressure and this is a time where we see a significant increase in families using the food bank.

Between 2021-2022 Pecan offered food parcels to support  9429 people in Southwark, 3,324 of those were children. The food bank has seen a sharp rise of 144% increase in users since the previous year.

If you would like to donate non perishable food items you can also do this between 9.30am-1pm Mon-Fri at Mission Place, off 121A Peckham High street, SE15 5SE. Please do check the Pecan.org.uk website first to check which items are most needed, as this changes on a regular basis.
