Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This October, I will be heading to Doha, Qatar to volunteer at The Street Child World Cup. This football/soccer tournament brings together street-connected young people from around the world. This year, 27 teams from 24 countries are going to be participating in this unforgettable event. The event is not just another football tournament. It includes a festival of arts. It also provides these Street connected children an opportunity to advocate for their rights and protections through a child-focused congress and general assembly. The SCWC 2022 will give the most vulnerable children across the globe the chance to represent their countries and tell the world ‘I AM SOMEBODY’.
Street Child United works with partner organizations that support street children worldwide. They ensure that these organizations follow a child-centered approach, meaning that children’s rights are at the center of the work they do and that every child is treated with dignity, respect and fairness. They also ensure that these organizations' impact is beyond the field by raising awareness for street children in their communities and countries.
Why Sport?
Sport is very important in the development of any child. I found myself the most confident as a child when I played soccer. Even today I feel the most confident on the field. This is something important for every child to feel. Sport has the power to change lives.
This event will bring together street connected children, it will teach them about different cultures, create new friendships and they will participate in an event that not only will help bring awareness to the issues they face but help them see that they are not alone and their voices are being heard.
Please help me in reaching my goal of $600 dollars for this year's Street Child World Cup, Doha 2022.
