Story
Last year Tony Whitfield died of cancer. I miss his humour, his wisdom, his friendship and his love every day.
Tony was a father, a grandfather, friend to many and we all loved him. At 66, he should still have had many fullfilling years ahead of him. Instead we lost him to this terrible disease, dreadful for him and for those of us who were with him during his final months, unable to do anything but offer love and care.
He was very brave throughout, he never complained and he made it easy for his friends and family to spend time with him. Given the fact that he was terrified of going to the dentist, the way he faced his final illness was truly inspirational.
In my gallery I have included a link to a song that holds a very special memory of Tony for me, so I hope you enjoy it too.
This page is in honour of him and also my grandmother who died of breast cancer many years ago and my faithful yellow Labrador Toby, who died of a brain tumour in 2007.
I'm no spring chicken myself, so I'm not swimming the channel, climbing Everest or walking from Land's End to John O'Groats but I hope you won't hold that against me! A mere 10 mile walk - and I will choose a nice, sunny day to do it. No anorak and wellies will be involved......
