Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
A few weeks ago a good friend of mine, Sally Giambrone told me about her planned skydive to raise funds for research into her ten year old daughter's kidney disease. Having seen the difficulties and bravery the whole family have faced since Ella first became ill in 2008 I decided to do the skydive with her.
My own daughter Hannah and Ella are very special friends, just a few weeks apart in age they have grown up together sharing many childhood experiences. Hannah is very aware of Ella's condition and takes a real interest in her treatments. She too has supported the appeal and raised funds last year through her school.
So its my turn now! I am more than willing to throw myself out of a plane at 10,000ft in support of Sally and Ella in the hope that you will kindly make a donation to the appeal!
Ella had a kidney transplant in December 2011 and the disease that affected her own kidneys has also affected her transplant.
She undergoes treatment 3 times a week to try and keep the disease in remission but there are so few cases globally of her particular condition, that it makes clinical studies to find effective treatments almost impossible.
Bristol Children's Hospital is home to a team that is pioneering research into her very specific condition, FSGS.
Their recent trip to the USA proved that their research is world leading. With our help in supporting their research they can get a step closer to understanding what causes Ella's condition and how best to treat it.
Although the nominated charity is Wallace and Grommit's Grand Appeal, we are able to direct any funds raised to this specific area of research.
