Story
As a Trustee and volunteer with my local Autism charity I’d like to raise some vital funds and awareness, to celebrate my 60th birthday
Starting on Thursday 9th March I pledge to swim outdoors every day for 60 days, whatever the weather. I plan to swim in rivers and lakes across the county to reflect what a huge catchment area AFSO support. So you can cheer me on from Banbury to Henley, and from Faringdon to Thame. I won’t wear a wetsuit, so my swims in early March might only be 10 minutes in the Thames. But hopefully I’ll find a few longer and more interesting dips during the 60 days, and I aim to swim at least 60km in total.
You can catch up with a blog of my daily progress at: sueswimssixty.wixsite.com/sue-swims-sixty
AFSO nurtures, enables and empowers autistic children, young people, and their families. They reach over 3,800 children & young people across Oxfordshire. Demand for AFSO's work is increasing - they receive over 30 NEW referrals EVERY MONTH and there are long waiting lists to attend youth groups.
Parents say : "AFSO is a lifeline to so many families”. “AFSO is the best support service I have ever accessed, their knowledge and understanding is second to none".
Young people say: "You speak my language!" “AFSO goes beyond what other people consider doing".
Please help me raise as much as possible to help fund the work of AFSO through 2023. The wonderful staff and volunteers will really appreciate your support. But most importantly the amazing children, young adults and their families really NEED your support.
