The diagnosis of invasive breast cancer came like a bolt out of the blue.  On the morning of October 15^th 2009 I was happily working as an equine vet and by the afternoon I was in a very scary place.

However, from the moment I walked through the doors of Salisbury District Hospital I stepped onto a pathway of quite exceptional support and care.  From the kindly receptionist in Surgical Outpatients to the breast care nurses, my surgeon, oncology consultant and the wonderful Pembroke Suite team of nurses I was treated with respect, compassion and skill.  They even helped choose me a wig before I lost all my hair and offered counselling and financial advice.

I have just finished my chemotherapy and am walking for the Pembroke Suite and Breast Care Unit with my son Alex and daughter Laura to say a huge thank you to the team.  It is just 3km which is enough for me after all the treatment!  Please help me to support the hospital that looked after me so well so that is can provide others in need with the same level of care that I was lucky enough to receive.
