Hi
In September I am attempting to cycle from Lands End to John O’Groats, a journey of 1000 miles in 15 days, in aid of the British Heart Foundation.
My brother John, who is also entering the challenge, and I have chosen to raise money for the British Heart Foundation in memory of our brother, Richard, who died suddenly in January 2004 at the age of 42, leaving behind a wife and young son. Richard appeared a fit and healthy man, swimming regularly and cycling to work. He had completed triathlons and the Round the Island (Isle of Weight) Cycling Challenge and in his youth had cycled through with friends and was a keen rower while at .
We have chosen the British Heart Foundation as “sudden adult death” (SAD) such as Richard suffered leaves those behind bewildered and disbelieving at the loss of someone so young and healthy. In 3500 apparently healthy adults die from (SAD) each year.
Cycling from to John O’ Groat’s is a challenge Richard would have relished and seems a fitting memory to such an active person. We feel he will be with us in spirit along our way.
I would like to raise £1000 and am grateful for your donation.
We are travelling as a group of 7 and so if you wish to meet ‘The Team’, catch up on our training and read our blogs, log onto http://www.bristolteamlejog2009.co.uk.
