Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 24th May I will be shaving my head to support my niece, Frankie, who is running the Edinburgh Marathon (29th May), on behalf of BRCA chat, a UK based charity that provides help and support to people like her who have a genetic mutation that increases the risk of cancer.
Frankie has given me permission to share her story:
“In 2020, I was informed that I have the BRCA2 mutation increasing my risk of developing cancer such as breast, ovarian, pancreatic etc. In fact over my lifetime my risk of having breast cancer could rise as high as 85%. For this reason I plan to have a risk reducing double mastectomy with immediate construction later this year. For a long time, following diagnosis of my mutation, I felt completely lost. Talking to people at BRCA charity had helped me to navigate my journey and decisions.”
Frankie - I am enormously proud of you.
This is my way of supporting your journey.
