Ethar Relief is a humanitarian non-profit organisation established to alleviate the suffering of refugees in the Horn of Africa and Yemen, in particular but not exclusively Eritrean refugees; regardless of ethnicity, gender or religious background

Story

ETHAR Relief was founded by my father, who has been an orphan since the tender age of nine. My dad, like any young boy loved his father dearly. My grandfather was a general in the army, and was based far from home, and so, my dad only met his father on 4 different occasions. The longest period he ever spent with him is about two weeks, and to this day- they are the best days of my dad's life.

My dad, until this day remembers lying on his father's chest, playing with his hair, with the hum of BBC radio interference in the background. He remembers his dad's beaming face, his heart-warming laugh, and his tight and loving embrace. He remembers his dad hanging onto his every word, as he rambles on. He remembers his dad's last words to him, "a day shall not pass without you making dua for me."

Over thirty years on, a sujood does not pass, and rainfall does not fall, without my dad remembering his father in his duas.

ETHAR Relief was born out of my dad's vision to love and support neglected orphans and children, who are languishing in some of the worlds largest refugee camps, forgotten and ignored by International medias, and NGO's.

Remember the Forgotten.
