Cardiff Half Marathon 2009 · 18 October 2009 ·
At the grand old age of 30 years old, I have decided to put myself through the pain barrier and run 13 miles in the Cardiff Half Marathon, to raise money for Cancer Research UK. I have never run a half marathon before but alongside my football season, I've been training hard to deny myself any thought of getting old!
I have decided to raise money for a very worthwhile charity - Cancer Research UK. Until recently, I have been fortunate enough not to have been directly exposed to the impact of cancer on any of my family or friends, however this all changed over the last few months.
My wife's grandmother, was diagnosed with an aggressive terminal form of throat cancer only a few months ago, resulting in her recent passing. I had witnessed first hand the devastating impact that cancer has, on not only just the sufferer but also on family and friends alike.
With this in mind, I would gratefully ask you if you would be so kind as to sponsor me for the forthcoming Cardiff Half Marathon on 18th October, as I am sure you will agree it will be for a worthwhile cause.
Thank you very much.
