Final Update

Well we did it! 4 1/2 hours cycling time plus an hour for stops. We are very proud of our boys.

It was dry but cold to start with, then got wet on the accent of the 'Cat & Fiddle' where it really threw it down. After a break we endured a cold and wet decent to the outskirts of Buxton and were quite glad of the uphill of Axe Edge.

Our bodies got back to a normal temperature with the climb over Axe Edge and we passed a few who had to resort to walking. Finally we enjoyed the sun for the last 20 miles or so. Arriving back in what we view as a good time of 4:29:23.

Thankyou so much for all your donations and support.

Update 1st October

Just want to say thanks so much for the donations so far. There are some names that I don't think I know, if I do I cant remember where from. It's really given us a buzz to receive well wishes from so many. (Even if we don't personally know each other)

30th September

Training suspended this week due to Stanley's cold and my bad shoulder. I smell of "Deep Heat"!!

27th September

Training is going well, we did a 63km ride today as part of our training. Click below for the ride.

Stanley has had a bit of a cold this week but we hope he will be well enough for next week. Having just watched the weeks weather forecast on Countryfile. While the first part of the week will be warm and dry they have said that the end of this week and the start of October, (the ride is on the 4th), will be cold and rather windy! Oh well we can always hope.

Keep checking out this page as I will update it at regular intervals.

The Cat & Fiddle Challenge

This is a 88km ride from Stoke via Macclesfield, the 7 mile climb up the Cat & Fiddle road to Buxton, Axe Edge!, and back to Stoke. Some do it in less than 2 hours. I managed it in 4hrs 20mins in 2006. This year we will take it steady and aim for a time between 6-7 hours.

3 years ago we raised £600 for the Sheffield Children's Hospital.  http://www.justgiving.com/catanfiddlechallenge/

We have set a modest target this year as we were a little late setting this site up. This challenge is an opportunity to demonstrate that with the right medical treatment at the right time, life, can be thrilling and exciting even when things are tough and obstacles though many, can be overcome.

So many of our friends and their families have benefited from the medical treatment available at the Sheffield Children's Hospital, The Hallamshire Hospital (Sheffield) and The Northern General (Sheffield) so we really feel this charity (Sheffield Hospitals Charitable Trust) deserves our continued support, if you feel the same then please, if you feel moved to do so make a donation.

Next year I am planning a "North to South" Gretna to Portsmouth (or Christchurch), Keep following.
