Story
Thank you for taking the time to sponsor me – it really is much appreciated. As you will see I am trying to raise in excess of £3000 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association. The charity is a hugely important and well run organisation which funds and promotes global research into the disease and helps provide support for those affected by MND.
Motor Neurone Disease (‘MND’) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks the upper and lower motor neurones. Degeneration of the motor neurones leads to weakness and wasting of muscles, causing increasing loss of mobility in the limbs, and difficulties with speech, swallowing and breathing.
There is currently no cure to MND. This cruel disease will typically be fatal within 2-5 years, often very much sooner. It is vital therefore that the MND Association is supported in funding a range of research projects to find better treatments to the disease, and ultimately a cure.
Many of you will know why this is a charity very close to my heart. If you have any questions about the charity (and why I am supporting it) then do feel free to drop me a line at stuartison@hotmail.com or visit the MND website.
On a more light-hearted note, this is my first marathon so any training tips will be very gratefully received! I’ll also be organising one or two fundraising events in February and March which I hope some of you will be able to support.
Sincere thanks again for taking the time to sponsor me.
All the best
Stuart
