As some of you may be aware, my dad has recently been diagnosed with Amyloidosis and so we made a visit to a hospital in London to see some amazing people who are conducting research into the disease.
-
The disease is caused by a build up of amyloid protein fibres in tissues and organs throughout the body, but can be very difficult to diagnose due to its rarity and non-specific symptoms and it is believed that because of this, Amyloidosis is largely under-diagnosed.
-
I am raising money for UCL Amyloidosis Research Fund which researches into the different strains of Amyloidosis and possible treatments.
-
To raise this money I am taking part in the BUPA Great Manchester 10k run on the 20th May 2012. I have never taken part in a run of any kind like this and am woefully out of shape, so in a shameless attempt to raise more money I am doing it in fancy dress. The choice of outfit was voted on by anyone who sponsored me in March - Big Fat Gypsy Weddings was the most popular - thanks!?
-
I hope you will see the benefits of donating to UCL Amyloidosis Research Fund and will give as you see fit. All donations are GREATLY appreciated and THANK YOU so much to you all for the support.
Thanks again!!
Stuart
