Story
Hey, so I know there are a lot of sponsorship requests that come along, and now that we are returning to “normal” the events are coming thick and fast. This one is special to me because I was supposed to run it 3 years ago but injury and a global pandemic put it on hold.
The other reason it is special to me is because I am hoping to raise as much as I can for the MND Association. Dad was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease 3.5 years ago and we lost him 2 years ago. The MND association provided invaluable support to Dad, and the family, when we needed it most. The very least I can do is something to try and repay them, to help them do the same for others who need their support as we did.
Endure 24 (www.endure24.co.uk) is a 24 hour ultra-endurance event also described as epic, brutal and relentless - ideal! It consists of an 8Km trail lap, with the idea of completing as many laps as possible in 24 hours as part of a relay team...or on you own! I will be running solo for 24hrs from midday Saturday 18th June to midday Sunday 19th June, with the aim of covering as big a distance as my body allows. They say it is mind over matter. My mind still thinks it is mid-twenties, so I’m just hoping it is great at convincing my body the same thing. I will run, walk and crawl if I have to – the aim is simple; just, keep, going. My target is to cover 100Km all being well...!
I can still hear Dad’s feedback when I told him I was doing this 3 years ago but I won’t share it here….he always had a way with words! Thanks for listening, thanks for the encouragement….and thanks for any donation you are able to make.
