Story

Thanks to everyone who donated. To those who haven't, it's still possible you lucky, lucky people!

For those of you who still don't believe I did it, there's some pictorial evidence below. Sort of. Granted, there doesn't seem to be a single picture of me actually swimming, but you'll have to trust me that this isn't a really elaborately-staged hoax. Honest guv.

Friday's swim was called off because of high winds and torrential rain, and ended up being rescheduled for the Sunday.

Conditions were choppy and the water was a tad on the cool side, but I swam one hour, 36 minutes and 56 seconds (official results at http://www.greatswim.org/Results/Default.aspx).

It's thanks to all the donations I got through it, and I'm very grateful indeed.

I was swimming in aid of the Walton Neuroscience Fund. Ten years ago the brilliant surgeons at the Walton Centre in Liverpool removed my brain tumour, and the money will go to research, facilities and training there.

Having done it myself a few times, I can tell you donating through Just Giving is easy and totally safe. Your details will not be sold on and they won't send you unwanted emails. They’ll send your money directly to the Walton and reclaim Gift Aid if you're a UK taxpayer. Please leave a donation if you haven't already.
