Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We're aiming to raise money for the Colorectal Unit at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh. This unit is a centre of excellence for Gastrointestinal (GI) Diseases and GI Surgery.
We'd love to raise as much money as possible to give something back to the unit as a thank you for the care they've given and continue to give to Krista. Krista is much loved by every one of us in the Strollin For The Colon Team; she's a wife, sister and friend to us and we're forever grateful for what the Unit has done for her.
Krista was poorly for a long time and once a diagnosis was made she tried many treatments; alternative, nutritional and many drug treatments. Nothing was effective. Throughout 2017 Krista has bravely fought acute pancreatitis, undergone numerous emergency surgeries, had several hospital stays and taken countless medications. It was then on 19/8/17 that Krista very bravely faced emergency life saving surgery and spent a long time in the High Dependancy Unit afterwards. Krista has subsequently undergone many more surgeries under the care of the Unit as she continues to fight.
On the first anniversary of Kristas major surgery, our team 'Strollin For The Colon' will undertake the Rough Runner event at Hopetoun House in Edinburgh. Although we have plenty time to train, we're all at 'varying' (ahem) fitness levels so this event will certainly challenge us as a team. The event is a 10k run which includes around 20 'Gladiator' style obstacles along the way; think Travelator, Hanging Tough, Total Wipeout .....
Team members are:
Aaron Close
Fiona McLean
Kim Close
Ryan Close
Nikki Close
Lewis Forsyth
Craig Merritt
Selina Russell
Zowie Smith
Kirsty Cameron
Stephen Smith
Laura Taylor
We are just a bunch of friends and family and none of us exactly resemble Mo Farahs or The Rock! So, this event will push us to our limits, but with team spirit, training, sweat, a bit of luck and hopefully no blood or tears we will complete the course!
Please dig deep and support us in any way that you can to help us raise money for a very worthy cause. But just as importantly to help give our girl Krista a boost as she makes steps forward in her recovery.
