Story
I'm no stranger to participating in challenging events however this year I have opted to raise the bar considerably.
My goal is to run the Brighton marathon...."yawn" i hear you all say, "you've run a marathon before." Yes, but this year I'm going to up the stakes by running in a straitjacket and if that's not hard enough, staggering along trying not to fall over I've applied to Guiness to attempt to break the World Record which currently stands at 3hrs 49mins 48secs!! They also insist that it has to be a proper medical grade Posey jacket and not some flimsy fancy dress number. Many thanks to Jaki and the team at Repton Medical for loaning me the straitjacket for the race.
Why, I hear you ask? Well, this year I wanted to do a charity event to raise money for Alzheimer's as my Aunty Jen is suffering with this awful disease as are many of my friends parents and my thoughts go out to Janet Thain in particular. The sooner science can find a cure the better.
Why the straitjacket? After 5 or so pints in the pub it seemed like a good idea and I think it aptly conveys the frustration that many dementia patients suffer on an hourly basis.
