Appeal for funds to overhaul SR Schools Class locomotive No.928 "Stowe" on the Bluebell Railway.

 

If you'd like to see this classic Southern Railway express locomotive, named after Stowe School, return to service on the Bluebell Railway, please support this appeal.  Only if sufficient funds are raised can the boiler overhaul be completed.  The Maunsell Locomotive Society have already overhauled the locomotive's tender (including complete renewal of the water tank), and have been raising funds for, and will be assisting with, the overhaul of the frames and running gear.  The boiler overhaul will now be undertaken in-house by the Bluebell Railway, resulting in a substantial reduction in the estimated cost, and hence we have been able to revise the target downwards.

 

With the Bluebell Railway's Keep Up The Pressure appeal approaching its initial target to complete the boiler overhauls of the O1-class No.65 and 80151, as well as that for "Sir Archibald Sinclair", the principal focus of the appeal shifts to "Stowe", and this appeal, whilst dedicated to "Stowe", is part of the overall KUTP campaign.  More information is available in this video, introduced by Nicholas Owen.
