Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Hi am going to attempt the Camino de Santiago in April to raise funds for the RNRMC, a charity close to my heart.

I served 32 years in the Royal Navy and was also lucky enough to be awarded my Green Beret after passing the All Arms Commando Course.  I spent most of my career working with Royal and also with SF units from various countries, as support troops.

I’ve previously raised significant amounts for Help for Heroes, but this time I wish to focus my fundraising nearer to home.

I will be running with my full kit, that I normally use on the mountain races that I attend in the Brecon Beacons, It weighs around 25 lbs.

My sister Linda, who is an experienced ultra runner is flying over from California with her running partner Gina and husband Chuck to do the Camino and they will be starting 10 days ahead of me, my job is to catch them before finishing the 500 miles from France, over the Pyrenees, to the end at Santiago de Compostela. My brother Dave, who lives in France will be joining us for the last 70 miles.

I’m not sure exactly how long it will take me as a distance that great may involve the odd injury or crisis point, but I will make the most of every daylight hour to finish in my best possible time.

Any money that is donated ,will go directly to the RNRMC via this page, and will be gratefully received.

I will post updates and photos of my odyssey on this page on a regular basis, to keep people updated on my progress.

Thank you all.

Steve.

Beneficiaries lie at the heart of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity's purpose, it is our duty to remain focused on their needs. Since 2007, we have funded projects and facilities that boost morale for those who serve today.
