From the 4th-8th July 2015, 36 players - including myself - will be attempting to smash the Guinness World Record for the longest football match on the 10th anniversary of Craig's death.
Craig Gowans was sadly taken from us in an unforeseen accident just a couple of weeks into his professional football career with Falkirk FC in July 2005. A good friend to me and many others, it is without a doubt that he is greatly missed.
Not only was Craig an outstanding sportsman, he was academically superb across all subjects; particularly in design. To add to these very impressive attributes, he was also a very dapper looking chap that was sincere in every aspect of life. Throughout my time at school - and playing against Craig for many years at boys club level - I've never come across a character like Craig. Funny, genuine and inspiring are just a few of the many words that can be used to describe his upbeat personality.
To add to the work already done by the Craig Gowans Memorial Fund, we are looking to make a substantial contribution through the means of a major love in Craig's life - football.
Our target is £37,000 and will be donated to the Sick Kids Friends Foundation. The Sick Kids Friends Foundation are aiming to build a new sensory room which will benefit children with sensory impairment. For me, I would love to see a facility in Craig's name that will improve the lives of many children.
This will be an incredibly tough challenge for all - particularly myself. However, with your backing and Craig's name at the forefront of my mind, I am very much looking forward to it.
Thank you for taking the time to read my page. Hopefully you can take a few moments to donate to help both squads involved in TCGGWRM 2015 achieve their target. Craig deserves this legacy.
