Story
I will be completing the challenge, which is expected to last 24-27 hours, with friends Garry Hockey and John Walshe on Saturday 19th March 2016.
I served for the Royal Green Jackets towards the end of the conflict in Bosnia and Kosovo. I am fully aware that after people return to civilian life, they can turn to alcohol or drugs. Predominantly as a coping mechanism after trauma or to deal with the challenges they face with adjusting to everyday life.
But now there is a great charity which can help. Help for Heroes give ex-servicemen the chance to partake in physical challenges, assist with individual support/grants and help maintain recovery centres. People learn to live with the physical injuries, like the loss of a limb, but the mental trauma is also something that Help for Heroes can really help with.
We are hoping to raise as much money as possible to help this great charity continue their good work.
We can not wait to do the challenge and have been training hard for this.
