The Purple Community Fund work with families living on a dumpsite in Manila in the Philippines. The families are under lockdown but they live in small shanties without the use of running water or the ability for social distancing which puts them most at risk during the current lockdown.
They survive on a meal to meal basis, mainly eating leftovers from restaurants, which are now closed. The government is unable to provide food for the country’s poor and with no money to buy food or their children’s milk the situation is now dire.
On the 18th April a huge fire broke out on the dumpsite and left 1055 families homeless. PCF is working round the clock to provide the families with basic food and some materials to rebuild their homes , but they need our help to continue to support the community through the current crisis.
