Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Thousands of children are diagnosed each year and we want to help stop the devastation caused when a child is lost to a brain tumour. Vital funds are needed to enable cutting edge research to find new treatments that will be effective in improving survivability from this disease.
A friend of mine lost his son, Joseph , aged 9 after a 7 year battle with a brain tumour. Joe would have been 18 this year and in his memory, I am walking 780 km/500 miles this spring across Northern Spain with 5 friends: two Richards, Tim, Mark and Joe's father, Andy.
The French Way or Camino Francés is the most challenging of all the Camino de Santiago routes, featuring in many documentaries, books and movies such as ‘The Way’ starring Martin Sheen and James Nesbitt.
This will take us 5 weeks starting in St Jean Pied de Port and finishing at Santiago de Compostela.
Being away from home and my family for this length of time, carrying everything on my back, will certainly be tough, not to mention the wear and tear on my feet and legs as I walk through The Pyrenees and the Pecos Mountains. However, the thought of the potential good that we will be doing will spur me on in the darkest of times to complete my challenge.
Please support me with whatever you can. Every donation will be a hugely appreciated and help children like Joseph, who suffer from brain tumours, in the future.
Thank You,
Steve
