Sleep In at the Crypt · 6 November 2015

We're celebrating our 50th birthday by taking it back to where it all began: the Crypt at Christ Church, Spitalfields. On 06/11/15 we invite supporters to bed down for an evening to support our work

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This is a brilliant East London charity that provides shelter and helps people in recovery from addiction to move on permanently into work, training or education.

In 1965 the crypt of Christ Church of Spitalfields became one of the first shelters for homeless alcoholics in the country, run by local charity, Spitalfields Crypt Trust (SCT).

I know first hand how important this charity is as I first started volunteering there when I was 12 years old. Things were very different in Spitalfields then but the service they provide today is needed more than ever.

I've always felt incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to volunteer for SCT. I met some amazing people whose character and strength inspired my choice of career into housing. More often than not, it was just bad luck that left people homeless. For many, the support they receive from SCT gives them the space to get their lives back together.

Thank you in advance for any donations you can make. Big or small, they will make a difference.
