Today, nine people will lose their lives or suffer seriousinjury because of landmines, unexploded bombs and other weapons. Almost half will be children.
Every day, millions of people live in fear of death or injury, unable to make a living and trapped in poverty by the legacy of war and conflict. Everyone is at risk.
It is not fair, and it is not right, that people should becondemned to live in poverty and danger. People have a right to a safe future, free from fear, so they can rebuild their lives after conflict.
MAG finds and destroys landmines and other unexploded weapons toclear land for people affected by conflict, so they can go about their daily lives free from danger and fear. MAG’s work has benefited nearly 15 million people, helping them to re-establish their livelihoods and improve their families’ lives. Above all, it gives people a future free from the fear of death and injury to them and their children.
One of the millions of people who MAG has helped is Touch Samol. He said, “Clearing the mines is vitally important for improving our livelihoods. We can do many things to help ourselves – but we cannot clear landmines. I would like to offer my thanks to MAG.”
MAG's vision is a safe and secure future for men, women and children affected by armed violence and conflict. Your support is absolutely crucial for MAG. Every day 11 people are killed or injured by a landmine explosion.
MAG has worked in more than 40 countries since 1989, to save lives and build futures by:
Reclaiming land contaminated with the remnants of conflict, suchas landmines, cluster munitions, bombs, shells and mortars.
Finding ways to reduce the daily risk of death or injury forcivilians.
Creating safe and secure conditions for development. This workcannot continue without our support, so I hope you will be able to sponsor mein this challenge, so MAG can continue theirs.
Thank you for your support which is hugely appreciated.
