Story
Steve was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in April 2019, it was inoperable at diagnosis, having already spread into his lymph nodes. Steve was a never smoker - It was a mutated EGFR cancer which meant the treatment options where better, just a daily tablet and monitoring. This enabled Steve to continue working and playing. We had a 9 month run without issues until Nov 2019 it had spread to his brain. He had 10 lesions gamma knifed in Dec 2019 which worked with only a few side effects, the worse thing about this was Steve had to submit his driving licence. This was a huge huge thing for Steve 😭. We changed meds April time and had some nasty bone mets zapped. The cancer was progressing and unfortunately we ran out of options. Steve was admitted to the hospice in Dec for pain management over Xmas and New Year. They where amazing (and this is Steve who hates hates hospitals) the care was fantastic for all of us. They managed to get his pain under control and we brought him home, Unfortunately this was short lived as he as admitted into hospital 4 short days later where he spent 3 nights before being brought home for his final 2 days.
The hospice is a charity and Steve would have loved to support them.
