Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Every year we take part in Challenge Adventure Charities ride to raise money for charity by cycling through Europe.
Each year 25% of our total goes to Cancer Research UK and the British Heart Foundation. The remaining 50% goes to a local charity of our choice and this year we have chosen to support "The Society of St James" ( https://ssj.org.uk/ ), a homeless charity based in Southampton with the following mission:
To help vulnerable people overcome challenges in their lives that prevent them from leading a fulfilling and rewarding life. We believe that having a safe place to call home is a fundamental human right and without this everything is a challenge. Can you imagine what it must be like to not know where you are going to sleep tonight and stay safe?
Our 2019 Challenge is for teams of 4 to ride in relay over 4 days from Ouistreham to Mont Ventoux, totalling 620 miles. Oh, and Mont Ventoux itself is 18 miles riding uphill, with an average gradient of 7.15% and max gradient of 10.9%! If those numbers don't mean much to you, it equates to something like 2 to 3 hours solid riding uphill :(
We are all riding Mont Ventoux individually, there is even talk of multiple ascents within some team members!
Challenge Adventure Charities has raised over £4m since 1996 and Team Why has been proud to be contributing for the past 6 years (last year we raised over £6000 ourselves). Your contributions really are important to us and provide us great motivation whilst we are away.
Thank you again for your time and any donation you can give will be greatly appreciated!
