*********POST RACE RESULT AND INFORMATION*************

Well I did the New York Marathon! and I'm exhausted............ perhaps one day I will do another!

I completed the marathon in 3 hours 40 minutes and 16 seconds which to be honest I was a little disappointed in.  After an early start (4.30am) I and many others made our way to Staton Island and joined our respective coloured group starts.  At approx. 9.45 we were asked to move forward and off we went..................

I throughly enjoyed the experience but did suffer in the final stages, the crowds and support were fantastic and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you that donated and wished me well , Sue & Charlotte for their support before, during and after the race.

Hi - my name is Steve Lee and I hope to become the fastest 'chocolatier' in the north west when I complete the ING New York Marathon on the 1st November 2009! however I do need your support so please dig deep and donate now

One of my greatest passions is running.. ohh i hear you say, but yes there is nothing more relaxing but invigorating than to get those running shoes on and run the hills of our beautiful countryside in the Peak District.

My interest in running began 25 years ago, living in such a beautiful area why not enjoy the surroundings and keep fit.  My first ever race was the Wakefield half marathon some 20 years ago and this brought out the competitor in me! I have since completed in the Eyam half marathon, Worksop half marathon, Nottingham half marathon and smaller distance races such as the Dovedale Dash and other local hill races and hopefully for the 1st time this year the Buxton 5 (watch this space).

More recently lasy week the Tideswell Fell Run on Friday and Bakewell Pudding Race (6.5 miles) - Sunday in a time of 53.32 (thats minutes not hours).

My training is planned and based around completing the marathon for which the ING New York race will be my first at this distance however I do run between 12 - 15 miles on a regular basis.

I ran 22 miles last Sunday (13th September) in a time of 2 an half hours - so the training is progessing nicely!

After working in the army as a royal engineer for several years, further moving into the mining industry for a number of years my passion for chocolate started when I opened my first shop in Meadow Hall, where I bought in Belguims finest chocolates.  This soon went on to developing my skills of using chocolate but my knowledge of them too.  Such experience included attending the school of excellence in Belgium, owned and run by Callebaut. A few years later I opened my first fully operational shop in Bakewell.  Over the years the want and drive to extend our range directed me to a larger unit in Buxton, to where to date we remain, producing a wide range in chocolates both fruit to liquor filled to kids novelty items such as mice and hedgehogs.  We have incorporated a viewing window into the shop so that visitors can pass by and see the delights being made. 'Charlottes Chocolates' is named after my gorgeous but moody teenage daughter: Charlotte.
