I am amazed at the response so far so a huge thanks for all those who have contributed already. There is still time to donate even though I have now completed the run!! I finished in 4 hours and 23 minutes - and am now quite sore - and the whole day was made even better knowing how much money we have raised for BEN

Initially this was going to be just a personal challenge rather than a fund raiser, but Don Black, a friend of mine (and many, many others), lost his brave 5 year fight with cancer last week so I have decided to use the marathon as an opportunity to raise some money for an important charity.

Don worked in a car dealership - he loved his job and cars were his great passion so the charity in question is BEN - the automotive industry charity.

Don, his wife Jacque and 2 children Tom & Grace received a great deal of practical and emotional support from BEN - www.ben.org.uk. Jacque would, therefore, like to give something back so the charity can help others who find themselves in the same situation.

Please don't feel that you have to contribute anything - I know what it's like to receive endless requests to support any number of good causes.

However, if you would like to help, rest assured that, apart from anything else, the Marathon did hurt me (as Pam will confirm having met me at the finish).

So please dig deep and donate now.
