Story
In 2019 I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and although deeply traumatic at the time, I have been able to reframe the illness as a second chance at life. It has made me appreciate all that I have and the amazing people I have around me and by making significant lifestyle changes I am now living a happy and healthy life.
Unfortunately though, there are young people out there that did not get a second chance and have suffered fatal health implications due to undiagnosed conditions. Jay Osborne, who passed away in 2017 was unfortunately one of these people, suffering a fatal cardiac arrest whilst out exercising.
Taking into consideration mine and Jays stories, I want to raise awareness about Jays Aim, a charity set up by his family that provides information about heart conditions, CPR training and defibrillator installations. Since the charity was created they have provided CPR training to over 3,600 young people and installed 123 defibrillators!
To enable Jays Aim to continue with their awareness raising campaigns, I am aiming to raise between £500 and £1000 for the charity by leaping out of a plane on Thursday 13th October. I will have a parachute and be attached to someone more experienced than me, but this doesn’t help the fact that I do have a big fear of heights and will be very nervous on the day! I’m hoping that by overcoming my fear, it will enable me to not only raise lots of money for Jays Aim, but also open doors to other fund raising opportunities and inspire others to adopt a healthier lifestyle that will enable them to live a longer, healthier and more fulfilling life full of happiness and positivity!!
Thank you for reading my story and please give generously to what is an incredible cause.
