Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I caught the running bug in 2017 when I agreed to be part of team in a 10k charity run. The physical and mental benefits surprised me and after 18 months of harping on about it to Derek, I convinced him (after 6 pints) to give it a go. In true Derek style the 10 weeks to 10K was nailed in 6 weeks and the rarely spoken about 11 weeks to 1/2 Marathon were quickly completed. From then on many running goals were achieved and once getting faster caused injury we started to slow down and "Jolly". Any talk of running a Marathon was always dismissed when we reviewed our physical condition after a half marathon. Going round again was never an appealing option!! Until now....

Speaking of joggers, the support and friends we have made at our local Jog Scotland Group ensure running remains fun and is the source of a lot of the motivation to complete this run. Fair to say we simply wouldn't be pounding the streets without them. It is from JSM that Jill joins us as the third amigo. Quite why she wanted to join us and listen to the nonsense we talk for a few hours is beyond me but together we are enjoying training (kind of) and extremely motivated to complete the challenge and raise as much cash as possible for CHAS.

The many ways CHAS have been able to support our friends James, Joanne and the beautiful Olivia over the years is truly amazing. During the last 18 months that support has been essential and kept them going. All charities have suffered during the pandemic so once we decided we were going to run a marathon, helping CHAS help thousands of families was something we simply had to do. Olivia is a superstar and the challenges she faces on a daily basis will put any pain felt during the race into perspective and we WILL cross that line.

As we enter the final weeks of the training schedule our motivation is raising money for CHAS so please donate anything you can, I can assure you, it will be sincerely appreciated by thousands of families across Scotland and our inspiration James, Joanne and Olivia!!
