Story
Some of you may have supported us last year on the Italian Job, this year, it is the Thunderball Rally.
Once again, at the end of June we will take on the challenge of nursing an entirely unsuitable vehicle all the way from Northfleet (official start line) in Kent to a famous landmark somewhere in mainland Europe. This year, the halfway point in the rally is 'Blofelds research facility' (to the non-James Bond fans, its a restaurant at the top of a big mountain in Switzerland) where no doubt we will have various villainous characters to deal with along the way (Andrew Harrison & others).
The entry criteria for the rally is that the vehicle must have appeared in a James Bond film. It would have been nice to roll the Aston out of hiding for this trip but I'm not sure it would have entirely been in the spirit of the challenge.
The entirely unsuitable vehicle for this challenge is even more unsuitable than taking a 27 year old Porsche to Monte Carlo or taking an early 90's Alfa Romeo to the former Fiat factory & back, it is a mid 90's Land Rover Discovery. Not know for their impeccable road manners & reliability, more known for rusting away and breaking down, yet despite this, it will be the chariot of choice for the challenge. This particular Land Rover represents its own unique challenge, as it is one that I have nursed (welded, alot) back to road worthy health, so while the build quality of the West Midlands motor production has always been questionable, my own skills in this arena are even more questionable.
Please take a few minutes to donate to our attempt to complete this challenge and once again support a great charity.
Thanks, Stephen & Stephen
