Story
I've decided to take part in the following events for Combat Stress which is a brilliant organisation and the UK's leading veterans' mental health charity.
Royal Parks Half - Completed - 1:28:05 - 259th out of 16,000
London Marathon - Completed - 3:10:24
UK IRONMAN - 16/7/17 (2.4 mile swim - 112 mile bike - 26.2 mile run)
This charity deserves every penny so any donations will be greatly appreciated.
Few stats regarding PTSD within veterans...
- Since the invasion of Iraq in 2003, there have been 123 suspected or confirmed suicides of serving personnel.
- One charity expects a rise of up to 12 per cent in the number of cases of PTSD each year until at least 2018.
- The symptoms of PTSD could take years to emerge, with many Falklands veterans only being diagnosed after more than a decade. There have also been claims – disputed by the MoD – that the death toll from suicides now exceeds the 253 who died in combat in the 1982 conflict.
