Story
My daughter Becci was diagnosed with Autoimmune Liver Disease when she was 11 years old. This is where the body's own immune system attacks a major organ in the body which, in Becci's case, was her liver. This has severely damaged Becci's liver and is an incurable disease, which is controlled through medication. She has gone through many tough times and challenges with the condition and has many more challenges to face in the future. During this time Becci has received fantastic support from the liver unit at the children's hospital in Birmingham and the Liver Foundation throughout. She is a fighter and has always remained positive and strong. Becci is now twenty four years old and graduated with honours from Staffordshire University, with a degree in Cartoon & Comic Arts. She is also now teaching part time on the same course at Staffordshire University.
I am running for the Children's Liver Disease foundation (UK Charity CLDF) to thank them for their support and also to help them continue to take action against the effects of childhood liver disease, providing information, emotional support, research funds and a voice for all affected.
