I am a trustee of Kids in Kathmandu Nepal (KIKN), a small charity, founded by Lai See Chew & run by volunteers. We sponsor 31 young people in Nepal to enable them to fulfil their educational ambitions & improve their life chances.
We are also supporting two schools to develop their ICT & science capacity, where we fund the half-time salaries for their ICT teachers. We have been very fortunate to receive grant funding from FFK over 2 years to fund school computers and solar panels (to enable the computers to be used during daily power cuts) at the Neel Barahi School - ICT is not funded by the state. The School is in a very poor area & has become a 'beacon' school due to KIKN's interventions.
We have recently started to fund special needs teachers at an orphanage for 11 children with severe disabilities, who receive no government-funded medical, therapy, educational or social intervention.
I am walking to support FFK's fund-raising, as a thank you for the huge support given to KIKN.
