Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 17th April 2011 I will be running the London Marathon (26.2 miles!!!) to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. This wonderful charity gives special wishes to children with life limiting/life threatening conditions. I have two very special reasons for choosing this charity to run for:
1) My daughter Shannon has cerebral palsy. She is wheelchair bound, has little use of her arms and cannot speak. However, she is a lively and intelligent young lady who enriches the lives of all those she meets. Due to her condition, Shannon has not had a foriegn holiday in the sun for many years as she is unable to fly. Make-A-Wish provided Shannon with a cruise to the Western Med! It was the holiday of a lifetime for Shannon, where she made lots of friends of her own age and really participated in all the activities.
2) My nephew Steven has type 2 spinal muscular atrophy. This is a neuro-muscular disease that leads to progressive weakness. Steven is football mad and Make-A-Wish sent him off to see the England football team train, meet the players and watch a match. He had a great weekend away. I just wish he didn't support Arsenal!!!
This really is a fantastic cause to support and any amount you can give will go towards giving children with serious medical problems something special in their lives. My family has benefitted from Make-A-Wish and I really want to give something back. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT.
