Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit Stephen Gregory's JustGiving page.
My brother Stephen age 27 died suddenly of an un-diagnosed heart condition back in May 2002. Stephen was 100% fit and healthy and had never previous shown any symptoms of a heart condition. He had recently returned from traveling around South America with his girlfriend and was just starting a new job in London. He was out playing 5 a side football with his friends when he started to feel unwell, then he suddenly collapsed and went into a cardiac arrest. The paramedics tried to resuscitate him but it was too late and Stephen died at the scene. Stephen died in such devastating and tragic way due to Cardiomyopathy (disease of the heart muscle). This also happens to at least 12 other young people a week. A simple ECG test could have detected this heart abnormality.
This left our family and Stephen’s friends completely devastated. My mother has since been volunteering and helping with events for CRY to raise awareness. I was only 15 years old at the time Stephen died but there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think and miss him. Seeing the efforts of many people and my mother (Myra Gregory) raising money for CRY. I have decided it time to pull my own weight and do the same. I have created this page to raise money for CRY in Stephen’s name. Throughout 2017 I will be completing various challenges such as
dry January, the Yorkshire 3 peaks, and also climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.
