Story
Hello! Thanks for looking at my Just Giving Page.
As most of you will know I’m more used to doing cycling challenges to raise money for biomedical research into the disease known as Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME), but this year I’m leaving my two wheels behind and I’m relying on my own two feet and running The London Marathon. All monies raised are going to one of the best ME Charities that exists, be it in this country or world-wide. They have made the biggest contribution to understanding and disseminating the truth about this illness that this country has seen despite being a charity which has been in existence for fewer than ten years & run by a handful of decent people who receive no remuneration for their work. All monies raised go directly to Invest in ME projects and especially their new research efforts at the University Of East Anglia. (You can follow this link for more information about current research projects: http://www.investinme.org/ResearchCurrentProjects.htm).
Why do I want to raise funds for this particular organisation? Well, as many of you also know my wife, Rosie, has had this disease for the best part of her life, and thus far she has been unable to access any care at all in the UK. This is in part due to the way in which this serious neuro-immune disease has been purposefully requisitioned by a psychiatric lobby which tries to mandate that this illness is of ‘the mind’, not the body. Much research over many years has shown that this viewpoint is totally erroneous and indeed the science is now starting to point to ME (possibly) being added to that list of serious autoimmune conditions such as MS and Lupus etc. But in the meanwhile this vacuum of care has meant that she and all others like her go on suffering, year after year, decade after decade, getting steadily worse not better.
Please help me to put an end to this shabby state of affairs and help raise as much as possible to enable Invest in ME to continue their programme of cutting edge research which includes research into the use of the oncology drug, rituximab (Rituxan), which is showing such positive results in Norway.
Thank you in advance for your kind donations..it will mean a great deal to a very sick population.
